The Vendée Islands: getaways between nature and authenticity
Nestled off the Vendée coast, the Isle of Noirmoutier and the Isle of Yeu are gems not to be missed. Accessible via the famous Passage du Gois or from a bridge, the Isle of Noirmoutier charms visitors with its picturesque villages, salt marshes, and large white sand beaches, making it the perfect spot for those who enjoy shore fishing or cycling.
On the other side, the Île d'Yeu is wilder. It offers rugged landscapes, charming ports like Port Joinville, and beaches with crystal-clear waters. Take a day trip from the neighboring ports and get a breath of fresh sea air.

The marshes and the salt marshes
The salt marshes, emblematic of Vendée, invite you to discover a preserved ecosystem. Near Île d'Olonne, explore the fascinating marshland landscapes on foot or by bike and admire the ancestral practices of salt workers harvesting the white gold. Let yourself be guided by experts during organized tours and learn more about this local tradition.
At the Salines Historical Park, there are several ways to discover the history of salt while having fun. Embark on a boat and immerse yourself in the history of white gold. Your children can even harvest their own salt and take home a wonderful souvenir of their vacation in Les Sables-d'Olonne.

The beaches of Les Sables-d'Olonne between relaxation and activities
Vendée is famous for its beaches, and those of Les Sables-d'Olonne are among the most beautiful in Europe. Relaxing on the Grande Plage, surfing on the wild Plage des Granges, or exploring the peaceful beaches near the national forest... each location is ideal for recharging your batteries or having fun.
After a day at the beach, extend your stroll to Île Penotte, a neighborhood hidden behind the embankment in the small, winding streets of the city center. Île Penotte is the work of the "Lady of the Shells." The local artist, whose real name is Danièle Arnaud-Aubin, decorates the houses with mosaics made from multicolored shells. She finds inspiration in mythology and fairy tales and uses shells such as periwinkles, oysters, and mussels.
Head to Rue des Bains in Les Sables d'Olonne to discover the most original neighborhood of your vacation.

The Bird Observatory a unique experience
Located near the marshes of Île d'Olonne, the Bird Observatory is a must-see for nature lovers. Armed with telescopes, set off to meet the many species that inhabit these landscapes. During high season, this site, managed by the Vendée Environmental Protection Association, offers guided tours led by birdwatching enthusiasts who will allow you to learn more about the local wildlife. An ideal activity for the whole family, just a few minutes from our campsite.
